Dr Clown brings together healthcare professionals, members of the business community, and artists.  Its goal is to carve out a place for therapeutic artists (and particularly clown doctors) in the treatment plans of Canadian hospitals by the following means:

Partnerships with health-care facilities
Regular visits in these facilities
Training and support for its therapeutic artists
Research on the benefits of services such as those provided by Dr Clown
Information on these services for the general public
International exchanges
Fund-raising campaigns
Any other activity which might help realize this goal

Dr Clown took its first steps in Montreal in 1999.  Its first pilot project was carried out at the Résidence Paul-Lizotte, a long-term care facility for seniors.  Dr Clown achieved official status as a non-profit charitable organization on June 20, 2002.  The Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada  immediately became our main partner.  Dr Clown has been growing ever since, giving more and better support to patients young and old, their loved ones, and their care staff.
